Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession

The OLMC Knights Council participated, along with the other OLMC Ministries, in the Eucharistic Procession for the Feast of Corpus Christi this last Sunday.  The Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin for “Body of Christ”) is the Roman Rite liturgical solemnity celebrating the reality of the body and blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in the Eucharist—known as transubstantiation.

Our Council along with Sodality and Rosary Makers decorated, manned, and provided readings at the first altar at the Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (4 total were set up).  The Knights 4th Degree Assembly participated in constructing the canopy for Fr. John and the Monstrance containing Jesus, to travel under, and carry it throughout the procession.

Golf Tournament Thank You!

On Saturday, May 6th, 2017, 118 Golfers of all ages, gender & ability, converged on the Kokopelli Golf Club in Gilbert, AZ for the 10th Annual Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church / Knights of Columbus Council 6627 Charity Golf Tournament held in Memory of Andy Soesilo for the benefit of The Full Circle Program and other Knights of Columbus charities. The event featured a record # of golfers, numerous corporate sponsors and many enthusiastic volunteers from Our Lady of Mt Carmel, The Full Circle Parents Group and The Knights of Columbus. Several of our sponsors were among the volunteers as well.

The FULL CIRCLE Program is a ministry serving families with teens/young adults struggling with a range of issues that can challenge the very foundation of any household. Our aim is to provide a program that provides families with support, responds to individual needs, affirms your strengths, and, above all, a program that will serve as a safety net so that our children will not fall through the cracks. This Ministry relies solely on donations and does not charge the families for their services and is experiencing great demand and growth.

We would especially like to recognize Fr. Jerome Cayetano, our Council chaplain, for opening the tournament with prayer and for his blessing before the luncheon, Sr. Stephanie & Sr. Maria Alejandra from the Sisters of The Servants of The Plan of God who were on hand as well to assist us in encouraging the golfers to give generously to the effort.

This year’s tournament raised the largest amount of money yet and we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved for their generous gifts of time & treasure.  Please remember our generous sponsors and support their business activities.  A complete list can be found here.

Corporate Mass & 5th Sunday Rosary

The Council is holding a Corporate Mass with a 5th Sunday Rosary Program to follow it, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish this Sunday April 30th at 9 AM. All Knights and their families are welcome to join us and sit together as a group at Mass, to show our unity and support for our council and our parish. Directly following the Mass, brothers from our council will lead all those attending in the 5th Sunday Rosary. If possible, though not required, please wear either your Knights shirts or name badges.

The Supreme Knight asked all of us to accelerate our efforts to work with our pastors to strengthen our parishes and seek to strengthen Christian family life. To help bring parishioners together in a spiritual activity and promote devotion to Mary, the Knights of Columbus Supreme council announced this new church activity, the 5th Sunday Rosary Program. Knights, their families and other parishioners are encouraged to pray the rosary as a corporate body every time a 5th Sunday occurs during a month. Here is a link to a publication that speaks to the Building the Domestic Church initiative and how you can incorporate this into your family life.

Please come join us for our Corporate Mass and 5th Sunday Rosary!
